This year’s summertime railfan adventure saw the club head west to Ohio and spend a few extra days in the Buckeye state. After the 12 hour ride out to Fostoria, the club spent a few hours taking in the rail traffic down at the diamonds under the full moon. The traffic was heavy and the club members were able to take some good photos before calling it a day.

The second day started early in Fostoria with a visit to the train station to catch the traffic through town before the annual trek to Deshler for an afternoon bar-b-que. The group stayed the rest of the day in Deshler before making our way back to Fostoria for the night. With an extra day tacked on to this year’s adventure, the crew decided to spend an entire day in Fostoria. The group was rewarded with plenty of sunshine and trains. With two days at the Iron Triangle under our belt, the crew started our way back east with a stop in Marion, OH, at the famed Marion Union Station. Traffic was bit lighter but we still managed to catch a number of trains on the Norfolk Southern line before packing up and heading to Pennsylvania.

The final two days of the trip saw us in our usual spots – Horseshoe Curve, Cresson, Altoona Station, Rockville Bridge, and Enola. Just like the rest of the trip, the weather was good and the train traffic heavy. All in all, it was a great adventure so make your reservations now for 2010!
