On a cold December Saturday, an intrepid group of club members headed north to the Capital District of upstate New York to visit the well known Rennselaer Model Railroad Society and visit Conrail's Selkirk Yard. After an early start, the club arrived at the RPI campus and proceeded to Davidson Hall for the open house. The layout was large and featured scenes from upstate New York and neighboring Vermont. Everything was well detailed and provided inspiration to the club members for their own module projects.

After a few hours at the RPI layout, the club ventured out into the cold for a visit to Conrail's Selkirk Yard. The wind was blowing but most of the club members didn't seem to mind as they viewed the parade of activity at the yard. Once the sun began to set, the club returned back home after an enjoyable day trip.
