During the spring of 2010 several of our club members made multiple trips to Palmer, MA, to watch trains and, of course, eat lunch at The Station restaurant. The traffic during the first trip in April was unbelievable. We saw many CSX westbound freights, several Amtrak trains switching tracks at Palmer, and multiple NEC trains switching the yard and moving out to the North. The trips in May and June were not as busy, but we still had our fill of both trains and food at one of our favorite restaurants.

A side trip during our June junket was made just south of Willimantic, CT on the P&W line where there had been a major derailment of tank cars earlier in the week showed the horrible condition of the track that may have led to the accident.
