Larry is currently in good shape @ Pendleton in Mystic.
1) Connector Issues:
Stu and John are proposing to use larger ~1 3/8” Amphenol type connectors.
Stu discussed what may have happened with the existing connectors due to the use of oversized wire (14 gage), which may have overstrained or twisted the connector blades.
The proposal is to use a larger size (say a 9 pin size), which has an OD of about 1 3/8”. Pins are rated for 14-18 AWG (13 amp rated). However the crimper does not work for 14 gage wire (would need a ~$600 tool).
Suggestions included attempting to ‘re-size’ the existing tool. Or to try soldering a special 14 AWG pin style. Or to splice a 16-gage section onto the 14 gage main section to connect to the plug.
New brackets, to support a new plug orientation were recommended.
The cost to redo club modules would be borne by the club.
A motion was made and seconded to proceed with the development proposal. The motion was approved.
1) Jonathan has proposed the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays for his operating session night, verse Mondays.
2) The next meeting is to be held June 22nd at the Bill Library.
3) John will do the Newsletter for June, unless Clark arrives back in time.
