Milepost 16

The oldest modules in our club until this year were a pair of inside corner modules. These modules allowed the layout to be setup in a U-configuration. These were nice modules but were very big with a total length just under nine feet per module. This made transportation difficult. It was decided to replace these inside corner modules with "reversible" corner modules - corner modules which could be set up as inside or outside corner modules. This would make transportation easier and allow us to use these modules at more events per year. However, the size the club chose for its standard corner module many years ago - along with the mainline track setbacks - meant that when these corners were flipped around as inside corners, a gap was left in the layout. This space was 16". The old inside corner modules accounted for this space - but obviously made those modules too large. So the idea was that a small spacer module just for the shows where we set up a U-shaped layout would be constructed. This little module shown here was the solution and means we now have lots of flexibility with our layout designs for future shows as well as easier transportation requirements.
