Mohegan Pequot Railroad Park

Another module born out of a club need, the Mohegan Pequot Railroad Park, was designed to be a club info display as well as add some animation to our layout. A number of club members have become interested in programming Arduinos and figuring out was to apply this technology to our layout. One of our club members came up with a program which would mimic the effect of a camera flash. It's a neat idea and an obvious place to show this off along a railroad is at a railfan park. On the module, a total of six photographers with tiny LEDs are connected to an Arduino which runs a program when a train passes through an infrared beam set across the tracks. Whenever someone is looking at the module when a train goes by, it is fun to watch the surprise look on their face as they see the cameras going as the train goes through the scene. A short video clip can be seen in this video on the club's YouTube channel.
