Tribute to Springfield

2015 marks my 20th year as an exhibitor at the Railroad Hobby Show which is presented by the Amherst Railway Society each January in West Springfield, MA. The show, which features four buildings covering 5.5 acres of space, typically attracts 20,000+ visitors a year. Our club started exhibiting at the event in 1987 when the show was only one building and only lasted a day (Today, it is open all weekend). I displayed my first module in 1996 when the club moved over to the Young Building from the Better Living Center.

This module is a celebration of my favorite model railroad event of the year and features compressed versions of each of the four buildings used to host the show on the Eastern States Exhibition Fairgrounds: the Better Living Center, Young Building, Stroh Building, and the Mallery Complex. The Young Building is front and center since it has been our home for the last 21 years. All of the buildings were scratchbuilt and detailed with the 3d printed parts from Mr. Detail Parts. The lettering for the buildings were simply printed on cardstock, cut out with a hobby knife, and then glued onto the building.

If you stop by the show, you can see this module in person at location 85 inside the Young Building. For more information on the show, visit the official website at www.railroadhobbyshow.com.
