West Springfield, MA - One of the largest train shows in the Northeast was back at the Big E in West Springfield, MA, last weekend. An annual hit presented by the Amherst Railway Society, the show once again featured four buildings with numerous layouts and vendors.
Module builders and clubs came from all around the northeast with representation from New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. The layouts where in various scales from Z to G and featured a variety of eras and roadnames, predominated by those from the northeast. With the National Train Show this summer coming to Hartford, CT, just a short ride down I-91 from West Springfield, many of these clubs were working their modules in to top shape since they will also be in Hartford in July - including our club's HO layout.
Despite the economy, over 19,000 people came out to the show. The weather cooperated with no snow which has limited turnout in the past. Next year the show is schedule for the weekend of Jan. 30-31, 2010. Start making your plans now!
