On a crisp fall afternoon, the members of the Mohegan Pequot Model Railroad Club setup not one – but three layouts – at the Conard High School’s Technology Students Association Train Show in West Hartford, CT. The club’s HO layout was setup inside the cafeteria along with a small G gauge layout and the new “Kids Run Trains” O gauge layout. This layout is being built by club member Kevin Davis and includes interactive buttons and throttles allowing the younger train enthusiasts the opportunity to run trains on the layout.
The show was a nice low key affair with a comfortable crowd arriving in the first few hours before tapering off later in the afternoon. The club members stayed busy keeping a parade of trains circling the HO layout all day long. Besides our club, the Amherst Railway Society’s Amherst Belt Lines HO modular layout was also on display. Over the course of the day, they also kept their mainlines busy and offered show attendees another example of modular railroading in action.
The show raised funds for the Technology Student’s Association and was the third edition. Plans are in the works for the 2017 edition of the show next November and the club is looking forward to attending again.
