The Willimantic show was concluded successfully Sunday with no major logistical issues or electrical problems. Despite the close quarters, the small “pocket” layout worked well, it’s smaller size certainly did help ease the pain of setup and breakdown. Again, thanks to all who turned out for a very early Sunday morning and helped thoughout the day.
As a final observation, the children in attendance really did seem to enjoy the show, in particular the movie themed trains, (Hogwarts, Polar Express) were very popular. As much as we overgrown kids enjoy our “realistic” trains, the showy aspects of display layouts with bright colors and sound really do enhance the experience for a younger audience, a few whom in due course may become future model railroaders.
