Club Layouts

The club currently operates three permanent layouts in our clubhouse- a HO scale modular layout, an HO scale switching layout, and a 3-Rail (O Gauge) modular layout. Take a look below to learn more about the various layouts the club has displayed through the years. We have developed a Z scale presentation, owned and operated by a member, that is regularly taken to public displays. Recently a member has been working on re-starting our N-scale contingent with a small tabletop layout.

Mohegan Pequot Model Railroad Club Layout Gallery

Here are some photos of part of our HO Layout in the Clubhouse which is an approximate 40 feet by 4 feet dogbone with a roundhouse on one end, a small village scene on the other, with a huge freight yard in between. MPRR Member Robert Applegate, with some assistance of a select few modelers, have been tirelessly working on the roundhouse end over the past several months. With Robert’s impressive modeling skills and his quest for realism and prototypical appearance, the slideshow gives you a great look of what they have accomplished thus far. Check back with us regularly as we continue working on the rest of this layout and add to what you see. We will also be updating our in progress O-Gauge 3 rail layout, as well as our in progress N-scale project.

HO Scale Modular Layout

The club operates a modular HO scale layout created from mostly privately owned modules. The club sets and monitors the standards and each individual builds and maintains their own section. In all, there are approximately 80 private modules and 12 club owned modules to create a layout. For setup, the layout size can range from as small as 12'x12' to as large as 42'x72'.

Club members are encouraged to build whatever theme module they desire and the club has a wide variety from yards to scenic modules. The layout is setup several times a year at train shows in southern New England. Take a look at the calendar for the next public event if you want to catch the layout in action or visit the club's YouTube channel.

G Scale Modular Layout

The Central Connecticut G Gaugers are no longer directly involved with the Mohegan-Pequot Model Railroad and are concentrating their efforts in mid-state Connecticut shows and activities closer to their primary residences. We still meet at numerous events and share a great comaraderie with their members. They may be reached by email cctgginfo@gmail.com as their website is under construction.

O Gauge Lionel Modular Layout

The newest addition to the club's armada of modular layouts is a three rail O gauge layout.  This layout features a double track mainline and lots of running trains. Members have been working for months updating the modules with new scenes and scenery, as well as added track and switching features.
